Why Senior Dogs in the Hills District Thrive on Express Visits

As our dogs enter their golden years, their needs shift. The 5km power walks through Marsden Park that they once loved might now leave them stiff, sore, or panting. However, "slowing down" shouldn't mean staying home alone for 10 hours straight.

At Lulu & Co, we’ve seen a massive shift in senior dog care across the Hills District. Owners are moving away from traditional "dog walking" and toward a more specialized, health-focused alternative: The Express Visit.

Why "More Frequent" is Better than "Longer"

For a senior dog, a one-hour walk can be physically taxing. Their joints (much like ours) have a "buffer" that, once exceeded, leads to inflammation and pain.

An Express Visit (20 minutes) provides the perfect balance. It’s enough time for:

  1. A Gentle Mobility Stretch: A slow-paced sniff-around the block to keep joints lubricated without causing strain.

  2. Bladder Relief: Senior dogs often experience decreased bladder capacity. A midday break is essential for preventing accidents and keeping them comfortable.

  3. Mental Reset: For dogs with cognitive decline (Canine Dementia), a familiar, friendly face and a change of scenery provide the "grounding" they need to reduce afternoon anxiety.

The "Sniff-ari" vs. The Exercise Walk

In the world of professional senior dog care, we prioritize the nose over the paws. We call these "Sniff-aris."

Allowing an older dog to lead the walk with their nose provides more mental exhaustion than a 2-mile jog. It lowers their heart rate and releases dopamine. During our express visits in areas like Colebee and Quakers Hill, we focus on these slow, high-value sensory experiences that leave your dog feeling calm, not exhausted.

Expert Care You Can Trust

Senior dogs often come with a "medical resume." Whether it’s daily heart medication, arthritis supplements, or specialized diets, "the girls" at Lulu & Co are trained to handle the nuances of aging pets.

We aren't just checking a box; we are monitoring their gait, checking for new lumps or bumps, and ensuring they are hydrated and happy. You'll receive a real-time update and a photo after every visit, so you can see exactly how your old soul is doing while you're at the office.

Is an Express Visit Right for Your Dog?

If your dog is over the age of 8, starts to lag behind on walks, or seems restless when you get home from work, they are the perfect candidate for a specialized senior check-in.

We currently have limited midday spots available for senior visits in Marsden Park, Kings Langley, and Kellyville.
