Puppy Sitter Hills District — Why Your Puppy Needs More Than a Standard Dog Walker

Getting a puppy is one of the best things you'll ever do. The first few weeks at home are also, let's be honest, completely chaotic.
I'm Vee, founder of Lulu & Co Pet Care, and I've been caring for puppies across the Hills District — Kellyville, The Ponds, Colebee, Stanhope Gardens, Beaumont Hills — for over 12 years. I've also been through the puppy stage personally with my own labradoodle, Danger Lou, who has been through more than most dogs twice her age (TPLO surgery, a lumpectomy — she's a trooper).
So when I say puppies need specialised care, I'm not just saying it to sound professional. I genuinely mean it.
Why puppies are different
A standard dog walk is not appropriate for most puppies under 5-6 months. Their joints are still developing, they haven't finished their vaccinations, and they overwhelm easily in group settings. What they actually need is shorter, more frequent check-ins — someone coming to your home, spending time with them, letting them out, giving them stimulation and comfort, and then leaving them to rest.
That's exactly what our Solo Check-In service is designed for.
What a puppy check-in looks like
Our team member arrives at your home, lets themselves in, and spends 20 minutes with your pup. That means a toilet break, some play, a cuddle, fresh water checked — and then a quiet settle before we leave. No overwhelming group environments. No long walks that stress their little bodies. Just calm, consistent care in the environment they already feel safe in.
For Hills District families who are back at work after those first few weeks at home with a new puppy, this is a complete lifesaver.
What to look for in a puppy sitter
Not everyone who calls themselves a pet sitter is equipped to handle puppies properly. Here's what I'd look for:
Knowledge of puppy development — they should understand that puppies sleep a lot, tire quickly, and need calm handling
Experience with toilet training — a good puppy sitter reinforces what you're working on at home, not undoing it
Small or solo visits — puppies don't do well in large groups with unknown dogs
Clear communication — you should get an update after every single visit
At Lulu & Co, our whole team is trained in animal body language and behaviour. We know the difference between a puppy who's overstimulated and one who's just being cheeky. That knowledge matters.
We love the ones other people find hard
Danger Lou taught me a lot about what dogs need when they're vulnerable — post-surgery, in pain, confused, needing extra patience. Puppies aren't that different. They need someone who's going to slow down, pay attention, and genuinely care.
If you're in the Hills District and you've got a new puppy at home, we'd love to help.

Currently servicing: Kellyville, The Ponds, Colebee, Stanhope Gardens, Beaumont Hills, Rouse Hill, Marsden Park, Melonba, Quakers Hill and surrounding Hills District suburbs.
